STS Defence gains three major accreditations
19 December 2017
In 2017, STS Defence achieved three significant accreditations which demonstrate our commitment to Cyber Security, Health and Safety, and the Environment.
Hardly a day goes by without another headline about “hacking” or “data breaches”. We are all bombarded by email and online scams or attempts to trick us into giving away personal details or passwords. It’s the same for companies and government agencies – criminal gangs and foreign agencies accessing computer systems to steal data or disrupt essential services.
The UK Government wants the UK to be one of the safest places in the world to do business in cyberspace and has introduced schemes such as Cyber Essentials to provide companies with a framework for protecting government and customer data from cyber-attack.
STS Defence is committed to ensuring that we protect our information and the data entrusted to us by our customers and has recently achieved Cyber Essentials Plus certification for its new network. Designed to offer high levels of assurance to protect our, and our customers’ information, the new network is supported by policies and training to ensure that our employees and our supply chain understand the importance of maintaining high levels of IT security.
This year we also achieved two new certifications through Lloyds Registry: OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.
OHSAS 18001 is a framework occupational health and safety management system which has enabled us to establish policies, procedures and controls to achieve the best possible working conditions and workplace occupational health and safety, aligned to internationally recognised best practice.
ISO 14001 enables us to make our day to day operations more sustainable, ultimately saving money, engaging employees and building resilience against uncertainty as well as the ability to rapidly adapt to change. The standard provides guidance on how procurement, storage, distribution, product development and manufacturing can reduce the impact on the environment and the management of emergency responses, customer expectations, stakeholders and relationships with the local community.
